How is the Test Carried Out?
Equipment Required:
- Slump cone (300mm height)
- Tamping rod (16mm diameter)
- Measuring scale
- Base plate
- Fresh concrete
Procedure:
- Prepare the cone on base plate
- Fill in three equal layers
- Compact each layer 25 times
- Strike off excess concrete
- Remove cone vertically
- Measure slump difference
Interpreting Results
True Slump (25-50mm): Maintains shape, low workability
Shear Slump (50-100mm): Uneven slump, medium workability
Collapse Slump (>100mm): High fluidity, risk of segregation
Limitations
Not suitable for very dry/wet mixes
Doesn't measure all workability aspects
